In Memorium
There will be a memorial celebration for our past President, Chris “Buffalo” Folsom on Saturday, October 4th at the VFW at 2811 Nugget Ave., Lake Isabella. There will be food and a no-host bar. You may bring a dish to share if you wish. In his memory, donations for a scholarship in Buffalo’s name can be made at GO FUND ME. Please contact VFW for more information. (760 379-3877) We thank you, Buffalo, for all you did for the arts in this community.

The Magic Castle Magically Appears at KRVAA
Our second Saturday festivity on October 11 will be themed around the famed and exclusive Los Angeles landmark, The Magic Castle. But here at KRVAA, we aren’t exclusive – we’re inclusive. Everyone is invited to this fun and quirky event with refreshments, entertainment and you, wearing your best magic-themed costume. (Or any costume, really). It’s a free event open to all, running from 4:30 pm to 7 pm. Come meet us!
Call For Volunteers
We have so many delightful events happening this holiday season that we are on the lookout for enthusiastic arts and community lovers willing to share some of their valuable time! We need docents and set-up people for our Halloween Kids’ Party on Friday, Oct. 31, from 10 am to 1 pm, and for our Day of the Dead Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9 am to 4 pm. (We are also hoping to do a “Thank Goodness for Pets event, Saturday, Nov. 15, for which we need people to help construct a pet-friendly photo booth!) For these family-friendly activities, we need craft teachers. For Halloween, we need face painters and candy distributors, and we are looking for DotD sugar skull, skull banner and marigold flower crown-making experts. Donations for potluck snack tables are greatly appreciated. If you are interested, call KRVAA and ask for Patty. Thank you!!
And Speaking of the Holidays
The holidays are fast upon us, so don’t forget we have a gift shop packed with exclusive, handmade items for every budget and taste. And new vendors are joining all the time. For some really beautiful and special crafts, stop into the KRVAA gift shop next to the gallery and see how you can support local artists while also picking up a memorable present for someone special.
And, please remember KRVAA in your end-of-year giving so that we can continue giving back to our community. We are eternally grateful for your ongoing support!

Station Stop?
You may have noticed that The Station was closed for several days in September. Our grey water tank shattered, and it took some time to get a new one installed. The good news is that we are back up and running at full steam – no coffee-brewing pun intended. Thank you so much for your patience and support.

Picture Frame Repair Services
Just a reminder, the framing department at the Art Center offers limited cleaning and frame repair, replacing glass, mats or backing on your frames. Or choose one of our pre-owned frames. With holidays coming up, this might be a great time to spruce up your home.
Coming in December
Have you ever heard the phrase, “It takes a village…”? Well, this December, we want to take your village and join it (or part of it) to our Holiday Village Display. The idea is to create a sprawling mini-wonderland with all the loaned villages. (Pick up your pieces after the festivities on January 2). Community members can come in and take their photos in front of our “Holiday Train and Village” display or at our “Snow Globe Photo Booth.”
Of course, we will host a holiday cookie exchange, gingerbread-house competition, ornament sale and caroling. Check back next month for more details.
